EAO's Response to Audit of EAO’s Oversight of Certified Projects
The Environmental Assessment Office agrees with, and has made significant progress in addressing, recommendations arising from an audit by the Office of the Auditor General completed earlier this year. The audit, which focused on the Environmental Assessment Office’s post-certification monitoring, compliance and enforcement efforts, recommends that the Environmental Assessment Office’s oversight of certified projects be enhanced to ensure potential significant adverse effects are avoided or mitigated pursuant to certificate requirements. EAO is partnering with other provincial agencies with expertise in compliance and effectiveness as part of its enhancement.
