Environmental Assessment Office

The Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) administers the assessment of proposed large-scale projects in British Columbia as required by the Environmental Assessment Act. The EAO examines projects for potentially adverse environmental, economic, social, heritage and health effects that may occur as a result of these projects. Each environmental assessment includes First Nation consultation, opportunities for public input, technical studies to identify and examine potential effects, and strategies to prevent, reduce, or mitigate potential effects.
